We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance--Japanese Proverb

Welcome to the first video(s) produced by First, We Dance. We hope you not only watch it, we hope you dance WITH us, and we hope that some of you film yourself dancing our dance and send it to us so we can share it on our site! Our goal is to provide weekly dance inspiration to get you moving and having fun. Our choreography will always start at a pretty basic level because we want everyone to be able to join in. We'll even break down the choreography in a separate video for you each week so you can dance along with us.

Now this is very important to us. You do not have to be a "dancer" to dance. There is a part of all of us that FEELS music and wants to move in our own way to it. Yet, some of us tell ourselves we can't dance. Well, If you are alive and have a body and are able to move any part of your body, you can dance. Question the voice that is stopping you. Ask that voice, WHY NOT?! Are you worried you might look foolish? Then remember the above Japanese Proverb, because that is some truth right there. We are all fools--you and me and everybody else whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance!

Now that that's settled, a quick word about our first dance. It's the holiday season, so we came up with some festive moves to keep you warm. You can do them by yourself, or with some friends or family or whomever! The first video is the full song, Christmas is Coming, from the album John Denver and The Muppets: A Christmas Together. Now if this song isn't your cup of tea (or in line with your religious beliefs), stay with us, we'll cover as many genres of music as we can in the 52 weeks each year. The second video is the breakdown of the choreography to help you out if you want to learn it. Remember, this is NOT A TEST. You do not need to follow the choreography precisely. This is just a jumping off point. Feel free to have some fun with the choreography. Put your own spin on it and then send us a video showing what you were inspired to do! Show us how you do the whole dance staying in your chair, or lying in bed, or on top of a slackline! And listen, if you ARE a really good dancer and you want to spice it up, we wanna see that, too!

Lastly, please share these videos or this post with anyone you think might want to join in the foolishness! We're on facebook, instagram, and twitter, and we'd love to share your posts on Christmas Day, so get them to us before then!
